It was important for my husband and I to find a dog trainer that would help mold our pup's indoor behavior for our WFH and traveling lifestyle, and Mike and Erika exceeded our expectations. Our puppy goes everywhere with us!

OakCityK9 has a good philosophy that provides a solid foundation for communicating with your dog and building on their obedience throughout their life. Our pup started day-training with Mike and Erika when he was just 3 months old and he completed a board-and-train program at 8 months old and now he's about the most well-behaved puppy I've ever seen. Just this last week, we brought him with us to our friend's house in the OuterBanks and he was everyone's favorite--never jumped on the furniture, he was quiet, calm, and friendly, listened to our commands, and didn't tug on the leash while we were at the beach or walking through town. We're very grateful for OakCityK9! I highly recommend for anyone committed to training their dog.

Changing a dog’s behavior takes time, effort, and hard work. Mike spends as much time as it takes to get things right, ensuring both the dog and the owner are set up for complete success.

As the Director of a local animal rescue it was important to find a trainer to work with that had an extensive training background, could think effectively and creatively in non conventional situations, and treated both fosters and adopters respectfully, and without judgement. I am continually impressed with Mike’s unique ability to assess every situation fairly, and implement effective training solutions that make a lasting difference. In rescue we see everything from, aggression to basic obedience needs, and Mike always over delivers with training both our dogs as well as our fosters and adopters to be successful!

Working with Oak City K9 has exceeded my expectations, and I could not be more thankful to work with someone as knowledgeable, and kind as Mike.

I am the proud owner of a one year old Goldendoodle name Dixie Rose. Mike began training Dixie when she was 6 months old. At the time, she was rowdy, hyper puppy and unable to walk on a leash. She ran from me and would not return. I knew she would continue to grow and I needed to understand and gain knowledge as quickly as possible. By our third session she was peacefully leash walking. I was able to enjoy my time with her and taking her out in public was no longer fearful, since this initial training, we have completed private lessons and various group classes. Dixie Rose loves Mike and she enjoys working with him. He has taught me to be clear in my request and to follow through with rewards.
Because of our time with Mike we have a great relationship. She trusts me and knows what I want from her.
I look forward to other classes and sessions.

I have had several training classes with Mike and he is very informed and experienced. He has helped me with a strong willed Westie to achieve basic training, Pet therapy, CGC and Urban CGC. He helps to take the frustration out of training by helping the human understand the basic principles. I now have the best behaving dog thanks to Mike.

Mike helped me and my pup a few years ago. He knows how to train a dog, and more importantly the owner. The tools and knowledge he teaches you is invaluable in forming that bond with your dog. 10/10 would recommend.
